Why this petition matters

Please sign our petition to request 3 way traffic light experiments at The Rock Junction to save safety, traffic flow concerns, residents and business interests in Tettenhall Wards.

On 3rd Feb 2024, Tettenhall District Community Forum ('the forum') agreed their action plan for improvements for The Rock Junction in Tettenhall, Wolverhampton.

We are working with Wolverhampton City Council ('WCC') to assess their Traffic Regulatory Order proposals, issued first in Nov/2023 proposing to ban right turns at this junction. This is a contentious proposal and requires further analysis which WCC are proceeding with, along with other problems raised by residents during consultation.

The forum have requested that WCC proceed with our preferred option to alleviate traffic problems at The Rock Junction, by implementing a 3 way phase solution, by an experimental Traffic Regulatory Order (TRO). This is a non-contentious solution to be implemented after an ongoing review, which does not affect safety, traffic flow, or residents and business interests in Tettenhall Village, which alternative proposals may risk and impact severely should they be implemented.

Since our petition started, we have met with ward councillors and WCC council officers John Roseblade and John Charles, on Wed 14/Feb at The Rock Junction. We have handed the action plan from Tettenhall District Community Council, which covers, in addition to our experimental TRO request;

  • Access improvements for pedestrians and cyclists.
  • Work towards a meeting with West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner on speeding, traffic abuse and enforcement.
  • Small engineering scheme requests for greater roadway capacity at Henwood Road/The Rock pavement corner.
  • Requests for better information on basic conditions, such as safety concerns with one-way streets, pollution, and speeding.
  • Requests for more collaboration with other authorities on budgets and Civil Infrastructure Levies.

We expect more communication from the council, as to plans for next steps, approaching the end of the 6 week review period.
